Snowflake Cards*

Woodgrain snowflakes!? ahhh, if only... so for now, we bring ourselves back to craft class when we learned to make paper snowflakes!
These are the things that I used: woodgrain contact paper cut into small 3-4” squares, paper to use as the card, sissors, embelishments – rubber stamps, metallic pens, etc.

This is how I did it: (1) Fold contact paper in half, in half again and then in to a triangular shape the center. (2) Cut the different shapes into the folds, (you can unfold the snowflake often to see where you need more cutting)
(3) Open up and admire the brilliance of symmetry. (4) Adhere to card healing any cuts and dents you may have made in the process, and Embellish!

1 year

Hello friends! Today marks Its(k)notwood's 1 year blog anniversary! A year ago, Em and I had the crazy idea to start a whole blog devoted to nothing but fake wood and our love of woodgrain. We never expected anyone to actually read it, let alone still be reading it (and us still posting!) one year later. It's been so amazing reading your comments and just knowing that there are other woodnuts like ourselves! We've had such an incredible and exciting year! From being featured in the Washington Post Express, being listed in Home Magazine, to being linked on such great sites as Apartmenttherapy, Design*Sponge, Decor8, as well as all the other blogs that link us- we just want to give huge thanks!

To celebrate, Em and I looked through our archives of woodgrain madness and have decided to give away a few of our favorite items to you guys- our fellow woodnuts! These are not sponsored items, they're from our personal collection that we have saved to give to friends- like you! We are giving away FIVE items to five lucky Its(k)notwood readers! Here are the first THREE items (we'll reveal the final two on Wednesday):

a woodgrain print corduroy magazine holder, (totally vintage Old Navy from a few years ago) never been used, still with the original tags- great for holding magazines, or your crafty tools, etc...

a woodgrain print corduroy photo/scrapbook album (also from the same vintage Old Navy collection) also never been used-

a woodgrain print "dreams/conflicts" journal from Artecnica, designed by Liz Young.

If you are interested in getting one of these, simply e-mail oneyear (at) itsknotwood (dot) com.
Please put "happy one year" in the subject, and give us your NAME, EMAIL, CITY, STATE, COUNTRY (we will contact you if we need more specifics) and tell us "What item would you love to see in woodgrain?"

We will randomly pick five entries on Friday and give one of these objects to each winner. Thank you again for all your support!

SBIG- plastic half barrel ice tub

I just saw Pirates of the Caribbean 2 on the airplane, and this totally reminds me of it. Actually I'm sort of torn about this. (you have to scroll down a bit) There's something kinda... great about this plastic barrel ice tub. What do you guys think? is it Shiver-me-timbers good or Arrrggghhhh.....
